Enough
The Pool Table Room Size Chart below should be used as a guide only. Generally, you need about 4 1/2 feet
around the pool table for a shot completely perpendicular to the wall and with
the pool ball tight against the rail.

Most shots are
made on an angle with the ball away from the rail so less space is needed.
If you do have a
tighter area then a short cue (i.e. a 52" cue) can be used for when that shot
comes up.
A pole in your
basement usually is not a major problem and will not come into play very often.
