Antique Brunswick Pool And Snooker Tables
We get calls quite often from people
who are looking for information on their old or antique Brunswick pool table.
In the mid seventies a fire destroyed
a lot of old records at Brunswick Billiards. Still, there are some
Brunswick historians that have been able to piece together information on some
of the antique Brunswick tables. It is not a complete history but it is fairly
extensive.
Pool Table Model
Some people are interested in the
history of the table and want to know what model they have. They try to
describe it over the phone but it is just about impossible to know from a verbal
description. Brunswick has been making pool table since 1845 and have
produced well over 1000 models.
Age of the Pool Table
Other people want to know when
the table was made. They may know some of the history of their particular
table and are interested in finding out more. Their stories are
interesting but sometimes are more folklore than real.
Value
Everyone wants to know what their
pool table is worth. It's old, an antique, maybe it is worth a fortune
like you see on Antiques Roadshow. While I do not want to burst anyone's
bubble most early pool tables were built for pool halls. They were not
that fancy, but more utilitarian. These tables are really worth what the
buyer is willing to pay. Most of these tables have more sentimental value
than resale value.
All is not lost though. Some
models were fancy and had inlays, special woods, and/or special designs.
These tables can fetch a pretty penny and could be the retirement nestegg you're
looking for. Until you find out what you have you just don't know.
The following link will take you the
information that Brunswick has listed on the older antique models.
